DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

In accordance with the state and federal regulations implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), this is to inform you of Clinton City Schools intent to destroy personally identifiable information related to special education services maintained on students who received special education services under an Individual Education Plan while attending Clinton City Schools but who are no longer enrolled. Records are maintained for 6 years past the final grade (6th grade) we serve.

If you wish to obtain a copy of this information for your personal records; otherwise, the information will be destroyed after June 30 of each year.

 Records to be destroyed are as follows:

  1.  Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  2. Evaluation Reports

  3. Notification of Meetings

  4. Review of Existing Data Summaries

  5. Notices of Action

  6. All personally identifiable information within the Special Education file.

 Please contact the special education office at (865) 457-0159 to make an appointment to obtain your special education records. A photo ID is required.
